TRENDS, SHOWS AND EDITS: AN INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the first post in the Trends, Shows and Edits Series. This series will look at the latest/upcoming fashion trends and styles through a mix of ‘shop the look’ pages and written articles.

The shopping pages will allow you to buy the product, taking you directly to the brand’s website to make a purchase. All you have to do is click on the picture of the style/product you like! These pages will either look at a particular trend (e.g. colour, fabric, embellishments), or take on the form of edits (e.g. a particular style all the same such as the midi dress edit or winter coats edit).

In addition to shopping the new seasons, this series will also explore the latest trends straight from the catwalk shows in Paris, Milan, London and New York. The future of fashion shows, both physical and digital and their value in the fashion industry will also be looked at in more detail. There is still much debate throughout the fashion industry whether all brands should abandon physical show offerings and become completely digital in their approach. This is a topic that has become increasingly important to consider during the current coronavirus pandemic.

As well as looking at fashion shows, this series will look at tv shows, films, music and so on, that influence and create fashion trends. For example, Gossip Girl and Sex and the City were both tv shows that had largely talked about fashion moments and were often used as fashion inspiration by viewers. As these shows grew in popularity, designers often gave pieces of their latest collections to be worn on the show. The shows ultimately became go-to sources for new season trends and marketed particular brands and styles as fashionable.

I cannot wait to share this series with you and hope you enjoy it!
